Once the decision was made to renovate our house of 33 years as opposed to moving to a new house, we knew that we wanted to have Kishiuchi Construction undertake the renovation. Over the many years in business, the company has developed a reputation for outstanding quality work. Our renovation was to the whole house except for the bedrooms but included new roof and gutters. We knew Kishiuchi Construction could take on the task as their portfolio includes new house constructions and renovations, much bigger than ours.
Anyone who has renovated knows the upheaval that lay ahead but Kishiuchi Construction made every effort to minimize the anxiety. They looked after all aspects of the renovation, including managing all the professional sub trades. They advised on the layout and design of the rooms as well as the smaller details like paint colours and crown moldings.
When the renovation was completed we couldn’t be happier with the outcome as we had a brand new house, the quality and excellent workmanship is evident everywhere. We are still amazed at the transformation of our house and enjoy every day in our new surroundings. We can’t say enough good things about Kishiuchi Construction and highly recommend the company.

I recently completed the construction of my new home in Kitsilano and I worked with Kishiuchi Construciton as the general contractor. Selecting a contractor is never an easy task and in my case I interviewed six different groups before deciding on Kishiuchi. My decision was based largely on the strong sense of client service I felt when working with Gord Kishiuchi. I am in the client service business and as such have certain expectations around responsiveness, willingness to discuss issues, cost control and follow through on decisions. In all of these areas, I have found Gord and his team to be exceptional.
As I took on this project on my own it was important that the contractor I worked with could accommodate my schedule and deal with issues remotely via email as I am often in meetings and not available to discuss matters. This worked very well with Gord as I never had to wait to get responses from him and he was always available to meet at the site no matter how small the matter was. This made working on the project very easy and allowed things to move quickly without delays.
I also really appreciated both Gord and Al Kishiuchi's consultative approach. During the construction, we made certain changes and I found both Gord and Al to be very accommodating to my questions and always willing to work though my point of view to arrive at the right solution which meant sometimes incorporating my suggestions. Where my suggestions were not incorporated, I felt we made the right decision based on their experience and input. Also, I never felt that Gord was pushing for extra costs or solutions that were unnecessarily costly. I found both Gord and Al to be extremely budget focused and they always provided alternatives that balanced quality and costs depending on the item being discussed. We largely came in on budget and the only variances were a result of design/finishing changes I wanted to make to the project.
I didn't hire an interior designer and as such had a number of questions around finishes for the house. I worked closely with Gord who spent the necessary time with me going through options as well as sourcing materials at the supplier locations. This was particularly helpful and very appreciated.
Lastly, the quality of the construction is great. I've had a number of people through the house and most comment on how well built and solid the house is. This is particularly great to hear from friends who are experienced builders themselves. Gord's team focuses on the details and it comes through in everything they do; whether its the location of the plumbing in the walls or the precision of the corner joints in the crown mouldings, no detail is too small.
Overall my house building experience with Kishiuchi construction was excellent and I will definitely be doing this again with Gord and his team.

Gord Kishiuchi built our custom home in 2003. He was a pleasure to work with and I am pleased to report our house was built on time and on budget. When a larger property became available in 2008, we contacted Gord immediately to ask if he would be available to build another home for us. We chose not to seek other bids as we felt comfortable with Gord’s work and we knew we wanted to work with him again. This house was also completed on time and within our expected budget.
We have recommended Gord to several friends and I would not hesitate to call him again if we ever build again.

Our project was a major renovation to an 85 year old south Kerrisdale home. Kishiuchi Construction came highly recommended to us for both new home and renovation projects. Overall Gord Kishiuchi and his brother Alan did an excellent job of meeting our high expectations over the 6 months of project duration. In all cases, quality materials and trades were used and scheduling was always prompt. We actually lived in our home during the entire project and the work crews did their best to accommodate us. We would definitely use Kishiuchi Construction in the future.

When our 26 year old house flooded we wanted someone reputable, professional and knowledgeable to complete the renovation. Gord Kishiuchi of Kishiuchi Construction Ltd. met with my husband and I and immediately put us at ease about the extent of the renovation, the time frame we could expect and cost involved. Gord has very high expectations of the trades people he uses and they demonstrate the same work ethic he does.
We were well advised when selecting new cabinets, lighting, flooring, crown molding, baseboards and other fixtures. Gord was hands on supervising and overseeing every detail of the renovation. All trades people were well coordinated to ensure there was no wait time and that the reno was completed in the time promised. We always felt like our home was a priority and extraordinary care was put into every aspect of the renovation, including protecting new cabinets and flooring etc while the house was being worked on.
We are extremely happy with the renovation Kishiuchi Construction completed. Our home reflects exceptional workmanship, current design features and looks like a new house.
